We are a unique faith-based nonprofit that transforms the lives of disadvantaged youth through jobs, job training and supportive communities. Our annual budget is $4.5M of which 70% is generated by our businesses and 30% is fundraised. We serve 300 youth annually with impressive social outcomes.

 1.  DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

JOB SUMMARY:
The Development Director is a senior position responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive, innovative fundraising plan primarily from private sources (foundations, churches and individual donors). He or she will drive foundation and donor relationships from research and cultivation to grant-writing/solicitation and follow-up. He/she will also oversee fundraising events, newsletters, appeal letters and donor collateral materials in printed and electronic form.

This position reports to the CEO and supervises a Development Assistant plus 1 - 2 contract grantwriters or consultants and occasional volunteers. The Development Director is a key member of New Door’s management team and participates in setting agency strategy and long-range plans. The CEO and the Board are strongly involved in the cultivation and solicitation of major gifts and foundation grants.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ability to conceptualize, plan and implement effective cultivation and solicitation strategies.
• Effective relationship-building and relationship management with funders and major donors.
• Self-starter and reasonably self-directed; identifies opportunities and execute with minimal direction.
• Ability to keep track of deliverables and manage others (including board and volunteers) to achieve shared goals; results oriented.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and build consensus/support.
• Demonstrated proficiency in grant writing and management.
• Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and donor management software.
• Experience with managing direct and indirect staff.
• Compassion towards clients and respect for client-sensitive issues.
• Whole-hearted commitment to the mission and guiding values of New Door Ventures.
• Bachelor's degree required, plus a minimum of five years’ experience in non-profit fund development. Candidates with experience in for-profit sales/marketing will be considered provided they have nonprofit experience as well.
